Sales of organic food shot up by 21 percent last year. Due to the increased levels of demand for organic food and farmers’ inability to keep up with the demand, prices have soared. It takes three years just to convert a plot of land from conventional growing methods to organic growing methods. As prices increase, the question is whether or not consumers will still continue to purchase organic food.

Solutia Inc will pay the EPA $3 million for contamination of an industrial site on Ferry Street in downtown Saint Louis. Solutia adopted the contamination from its parent company Monsanto Co. The company shipped dirty chemical barrels for reconditioning to the site.

Before you buy a hybrid you need to ask yourself why exactly you are buying one. If it is out of concern for the environment, proceed to your nearest car dealership. If it is to save money on gas, better do a little more research before you open up the checkbook. Because hybrids are more expensive than their regular engine counterparts it may take years in gas savings before you break even.
