Leaders in natural gas from Russia, Iran and Qatar formed an alliance similar to OPEC. While gas prices sell for about half what they did at their high, natural gas producers ramp up. But the agreements won’t prove quite as effective since natural gas is used in only small pockets of the global market.

Russian and Venezuelan presidents agreed on a joint venture of oil and gas with intentions to expand with China, Iran, Cuba, Bolivia, and beyond. The process includes everything from extraction to shipping. In return for Venezuelan expertise, Russia agreed to a billion dollar loan for military weapons and coorperation on Venezuela’s nuclear program.

San Antonio, Texas will be the first city in the U.S. to recycle its citizens’ human waste into usable energy. The city will sell the methane gas generated at its treatment plant to various energy companies.
